Operation Write Home. Sending our troops some hope and encouragement.

Those of you out there who know me, know that I am always volunteering myself.

Maybe I am crazy or maybe I just like to keep myself overly busy… OR maybe it’s a little of both.

All kidding aside, I believe in community. I believe we all need to be a part of our community if we expect it to thrive and flourish healthfully.

Most recently, I blogged about my involvement with Teen Battle Chef and the delightful food created by the kids in the program. Despite the sweltering heat and humidity the kids did an amazing job working together, creating new friendships, and cuisine.  Yum Yum!

So what is my next big project? Well! I am so glad you asked.

I am happy to be a part of Operation Write Home. This organization started by Sandy Ollnock in 2007, has been sending quality handmade greeting cards to our troops. Over 2 million to be more exact! WOW!

The whole point of this organization is to help our troops remain in touch with their families and friends while they are away. No, it’s more than that; it’s about the human element and remaining kind in times of turmoil. It’s about sending some love, hope, and encouragement to those who need it. Sandy Ollnock has touched the hearts of countless men and women through her generous deeds. And we can too!

This organization is right up my alley. *Happy Dance*

So where does this “we” come into the equation? Well, I have a goal to meet, and I need your help! From now and until the end of 2013, I plan to make and send one handmade card for each card you purchase from Elegantly Haunted. YES! One for one!

This is my way of spreading the word about Operation Write Home, and getting a serious volume of cards over to our troops. I will be making Halloween cards, fall cards, Thanksgiving cards, winter and Christmas cards! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!

My number goal is 500 cards!!! See, now you know why I need your help. 500 cards is a BIG number! I am sure we can do it, but your support is essential! See there is that community thing!!!

Your part is easy. You’re going to purchase greeting cards for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc., right? So why not make your card purchases go further? When you need a card (or pack of cards) think of Operation Write Home, and then think of Elegantly Haunted. You’ll be doing double the good deed this year. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!

Oh! And there is one other thing you need to do. TELL EVERYONE!! Spread the word and let’s make this happen! I have links below you can share. Encourage your family and friends to visit my sites for their own greeting card needs.
